WHOA UGSP. Oh yes, and lots of sap.

Your selection as a UGSP Scholar and the Committee’s willingness to support your scientific development speak highly of your accomplishments. THIS GUY. I am so excited about this . And astonished. Getting closer and closer to my goal to become a researcher in Social Psychology is so riveting. It wasn’t long ago that I had dropped out of high school and believed that college could never happen fo...

The Bane of Shopping - well, until surgery happened.

Shopping for clothing has never been my top #1 favorite activity of all time in the universe. For as long as I can recall, it’s been an agonizing, everything-fits-funny pain in the schlum. Out of a gazillion + 2 shirts and pants, I’d be lucky to find something that fit right. Either the shirts were too straight or too stretched out or not long enough or - this has been the story for forever and beyond. Until last Saturday. Since I had top surgery last August, I haven’t shopped for new clothes. Er, I lie. I have. For multipacks of Hanes t-shirts and underoo’s. But those don’t count. For months now my dad has been whimpering about having no clothes. And I’ve been wearing the same ol’ white Hanes shirt and shorts combo every single day. Which is great if you’re Pee Wee Herman, Einstein, or Seth Brundle from The Fly, but. Despite the convenience of only having multiple pairs of one outfit, I finally cracked last Saturday and decided to dupe my father into going on a trip to the ...

Look what I found. Neat!

My Summer Vacation

Between preparing for the GRE (standardized test for graduate school admission), doing my summer research project, taking classes, getting my graduate school application materials ready, and so on and so forth 24-consta-7, my poor blog has endured a great deal of neglect. Just fyi, this isn’t a state of perma-neglect. My blog is still alive and thriving and wondrous - just, fasting. On occasion. To detox! My summer research, by the way, was super rad. I’m just gonna say it. It was. I got IRB approval and recruited almost 400 people from all over the United States and have just begun to go over the results. And, low and behold, although preliminary, I’m discovering some really, reallly interesting stuff. And I have the awesome opportunity to continue this project into my senior year. My summer vacation thus far consists of waking up every morning at 7:30am on.the.dot. I go to coffee with my pOps, where we go over GRE math stuff. It’s been almost 13 years since I’ve had to dabble in ...

Transphobic Miss USA Contestant Resigns

My dad’s Facebook comment about this article : “It’s funny how insecure people are about gender. There was never a question that she was absolutely gorgeous until she publicly announced she was transgender. Then, suddenly she is a freak and unattractive. Face the fact that you are attracted to a beautiful woman who used to be a man. Don’t worry. Your peepee won’t fall off or anything. You won’t be less of a man because she used to be a man. Grow up and get over it children. Trump was absolutely right (as rare as that may be) and this creep is just a nasty person who has issues with losing competitions. Big surprise - didn’t expect anything like that in a beauty pageant.”

Pride Weekend 2012!

Guess who got to see Yara Sofia over pride weekend? THIS GUY. For those who live in the tragic drag-less dark, Yara Sofia won the Miss Congeniality award on season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race . She was, by far, my favorite - due to being all super sweet, mega-talented, and overall adorable. Anyway, I blame school - but, I had no idea that she was coming to Salt Lake City until Saturday night. Prior to this knowledge, I had resolved to learn from experience and save up my finite supply of elder energy for the Sunday morning Pride Parade and all.day.long festivities. In years past, pride weekend has always been a blur of gaggle o’ faggle sleep deprivation that I end up paying for all day Monday. That was the plan - until Aaron texted me: “Yara Sofia will be at Metro tonight.” Well, he actually texted “Sofia Yara” - but, close enough. I got the gist. One part of me thought of the exhaustion, the overwhelming crowds of loud, drunken hot messes. But, the other part of me thought,...

Ian Harvie on Fundraising n' the Sexy F2M Calendar!

Really amazing blog post from Ian Harvie regarding his journey to get enough money for his own surgery, and mention of the Sexy F2M Calendar fundraiser Aaron and I have been putting on to raise mula for his much-needed surgery. Ian also submitted a photo for the calendar contest, which, of course, made it into the final 12. Thank you, Ian!
